How Do I Get A Southington Library Card?

To apply for a Southington Library Card, adults must present a valid form of identification with a name and address showing residency in Southington, Plantsville, Marion, or Milldale (please see the Borrowing Privileges policy under the policies section).

A library card issued at the Southington Public Library may be used at any public library in the state.  Your library card is valid for three years. To renew your card, bring the expired card and a photo ID to the Circulation Desk.

Children may apply for a library card at any age, but a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign for a library card for children under the age of 14, and assume full responsibility for overdue fines and lost item fees.

Lost Items and Replacement Policy

Extra time will be given to a borrower to locate and return a lost collection item.  The item is renewed and the shelf is checked before collecting payment.  If an item is lost or damaged beyond repair, the borrower will be charged to replace the item.  They are billed the amount the library paid for the item as cataloged in the item’s record. Late or overdue fines are waived when the billed item is paid. Payment is the only option, and we do not accept a copy of the item that the patron has purchased from another source. If a lost item is found, the patron will not be refunded.

Damaged cases or barcodes will cost $1.00 for replacement.
