August & September Artist of the Month: Peggy Thibodeau
Local artist Peggy Thibodeau started her interest in art by coloring in her coloring books on the floor with her father. As an adult she took courses with the Art Leagues of Plainville and West Hartford. Two of her most recent and influential teachers have been George Nowak of New Britain and Sue Riley of Southington.
Following years of graphite pencil portraits, she has now moved on to pen and ink drawings. Her background in drawing has been indispensable for starting each work with a pencil sketch of basic forms, before she takes up the ink pens, whose points range in size from very fine to heavy. She enjoys the crispness of the pen and ink, and how the lines and stippling can show the texture of rocks, trees, and wood. Barnes, farmhouses, fences, and covered bridges are among her favorite subjects.
Peggy's work will be on view in our gallery through the end of September. If you are interested in purchasing any of her art work please contact her at [email protected].
