Spooky Southington Writing Contest
Every October since 2023, Southington residents of all ages have been encouraged to submit an original spooky story to our annual library-wide writing contest. Every year we are absolutely blown away by the creativity of the community.
Below you will find the complete collection of stories compiled in Spooky Southington Vol. 1 thru Vol. 3. Additionally, you can see the 1st edition of Spooky CT, which collects the winning stories from libraries around CT. Physical copies of the volumes can be found in our local author section on the second floor of the library.

And now the time has come again!
In September 2026, Southington residents of all ages are encouraged to participate in our 4th annual Spooky Southington writing contest!
This year winners of each of the categories will not only win prizes and be published in the 4th annual Spooky Southington book, but winners will also be published in our 2nd annual Spooky CT book!
We have asked libraries around CT to host their own town specific spooky story contest and all the winners from each participating library will be published in a "best of" volume called Spooky CT.
