Reference Desk Services

Computers, Internet, Scanning, and Printing
Computers with Microsoft Office 2010 and Internet access are available for use with your library card. Patrons receive $1.00 credit each month for printing. This does not accrue. Those wishing to save their work should bring a USB flash drive. A scanning station is available at no charge, but documents can only be scanned to email, USB or smartphone.

Faxing
Faxing is available via a FaxScan24 Self-Service Public Fax kiosk. The kiosk accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discover. Pre-paid fax cards can be purchased with cash or check at the Reference Desk.

WiFi and WiFi Printing
WiFi is available throughout the Library. Simply bring your device, find a comfortable seat and connect to TOS-Guest (no password required). Printing over WiFi is available via the PrinterON service.

Databases
Use our online databases to access full-text magazine, journal, and newspaper articles, find information on automobile repair, research your family history, find critical commentary on literature, or find valuable business and demographic information.

InterLibrary Loan
To obtain a book not available in the consortia of Libraries available through the Southington Public Library catalog, staff at the Reference Desk will try to locate and obtain the item from another Connecticut Public Library. InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is not available for items that either the Southington Public Library or the consortia currently own, or for items released within the last six (6) months.

Notary Services
The Southington Public Library has several certified notaries on staff. There is no charge for the service. It is recommended that you contact the Reference Desk to ensure a notary is available. Please bring current photo identification and one other form of identification with your signature. Do not sign the document until you are in the presence of the notary. If you require witnesses, you are encouraged to bring your own as additional staff may not be available at the time. Please note: We cannot notarize wills, original or certified copies of vital documents, mortgages, or modification of mortgage forms. Notaries have the right to deny notarizing any document.

Proctoring
The Southington Public Library is pleased to offer proctoring services to help community members meet their educational goals. These services are available at the discretion of the Reference Desk staff and may be unavailable due to staffing or if the exam's conditions cannot be reasonably accommodated.
