As we respond to the latest information and guidelines from local and national officials around the COVID-19 virus, we want to make sure you have the latest information about your library, too! Here are some frequently asked questions (and answers!) about the Library.
We are happy to welcome you back to the Library. We are offering limited-person services in addition to our enhanced virtual offerings.  The safety and health of our patrons and staff is our priority. Thank you for following guidelines and for your patience and flexibility as we move through this time together.

What should I expect when I visit the library?
As of 9/29/20, the Library is now open for browsing. We continue to offer access to our Computer Area, Business Center, and Reference Desk. Appointments are suggested for computer and reference services and can be made online or by calling the Reference Desk at 860-628-0947 x5. There are no tables, seating or meeting space available at this time.

Is the Library still offering contactless material pickup services?
Yes, our contactless material pickup service is still available Monday – Friday 9:30 am - 11:00am, 1:00pm - 4:30pm and Saturday from 9:30 am - 12:30pm. We are closed M-F between 11:00am-1:00pm for cleaning. Pick up area is located inside of our back lobby (back door entrance). After-hours pickup options are available: please contact the circulation desk at 860-628-0947x2 for more information.

How do I reserve items for contactless material pickup?
Reserve your items via the online catalog or call 860-628-0947x2. Emails will be sent saying to contact the library to schedule your pickup time. We will call you to schedule a time if you do not have an email. Pick up your items at your scheduled pickup day/time on the shelf inside our back lobby. Masks must be worn.

I returned items to the Library. Why are they still on my account?
Items returned to the library will be quarantined for 4-7 days for safety reasons and will be checked in after this time. Overdue fines will only accrue if items are returned 7 days past their due date.

Do I need to wear a mask when I come in to the Library for my appointment?
Yes, all visitors are required to wear masks that cover nose and mouth and fit tightly to the face. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with a disposable mask.  SPL staff are wearing masks.

Are you still accepting book donations?
You may donate items and deposit them in the Friends book donation box located near the electric car charging stations at the back of the library.
