Must watch before using the Library's MakerBot Replicator 2

​To use the Southington Library's MakerBot Replicator 2, a desktop 3D printer, you must:
  • Have a valid Library card from any Connecticut public library.
  • Have basic proficiency in the use of a 3D printer (must watch instructional videos, left).
  • Be age 13 or older. Children ages 12 or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who also has basic proficiency in the use of a 3D printer.
  • Sign the Library's Rules of Use Card (will be signed at the library at your first usage).
  • Book a MakerBot Session.

Scheduling a MakerBot Session:
  • Please call the library at 860.628.0947 x5 for availability and to reserve your two hour session.
  • You may book a two-hour block of time, with all sessions ending 30 minutes before the Library closes.
  • You may book sessions up to 30 days in advance.
  • Absolutely no weapons may be printed.
  • Users must stay at the workstation at all times.
  • No food or drinks are allowed at the workstation.
  • Users must provide their own 2GB SD Cards (cards must be 2GB or less in order to work properly) or you may build from your laptop using your own USB cable.
  • Filament is provided by the Library.
  • Please note that the MakerBot Replicator 2 only reads the x3g file format for printing.​
