SERVICES
Reference Collection--An extensive array of scholarly books filled with facts and figures for your research needs.
Local History Collection--Southington's long history comes alive at the library. Our collection consists of street directories, Notes from the Director for the town, Southington High School yearbooks, descriptions of houses currently listed with the National Register of Historic Homes, as well as a plethora of other interesting facts about Southington. Contact the Reference Department for more information.
Databases & Microform--Many of our online databases contain the full-text of magazines, journals, and newspapers. Our microform collection of
The Southington Observer, The Record Journal, and
The New York Times supplements our online resources.
Computers--PCs are located in the Reference Room for use by the public. These machines have high speed Internet access, as well as
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Patrons are required to
obtain a library card and read the library's
Internet Use Policy prior to using a library computer for Internet access.
Computer Classes--The Reference staff teaches computer classes on such topics as Internet basics,
Microsoft Word, Search Engines, Email, and many more! Please call the Reference Department at 860-628-0947 ext.
5 for the current schedule of classes.
Interlibrary Loan--Looking for a book, video, or book-on-tape that our library does not own? No problem. Simply call or stop by the Reference Desk, and we will try to obtain the material from another library in Connecticut.
Notary Public--Several members of the Reference Staff are certified Notary Publics. There is no charge for this service, but it is requested that you call in advance to make an appointment.
Museum Passes--Call or stop by the Reference Desk to reserve passes to area museums. Some passes give the bearer free admission, while others provide you with a significant discount. For a list of our current museum passes,
